21 May, 2020
On May 21, Tigran Mkrtchyan, Ambassador of Armenia to Lithuania participated in the video briefing entitled “On Covid-19 Response Measures in Lithuania”, organized by the Lithuanian Government for the heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Vilnius.

During the event, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius, Lithuanian Minister of Health Aurelijus Veryga, and Adviser to the Prime Minister of Lithuania Lukas Savickas presented Lithuania's strategy for the coronavirus prevention, current restrictions and preconditions to their mitigation, and answered questions of diplomatic representatives accredited in Lithuania. During the video conference, the Ambassador of Armenia to Lithuania Tigran Mkrtchyan expressed his gratitude to the Lithuanian Government for the medical assistance provided to Armenia a few days ago. The Ambassador also inquired about possible resumption dates for flights from and to Lithuania.

Answering this question, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius emphasized that the resumption of flights will depend on the pandemic situation in the country, which will also be coordinated with Latvia and Estonia. Regarding the restoration of communication with countries outside Schengen, Minister Linevičius noted that Lithuania is not currently considering this issue and is following the recommendations of the European Commission.

Lithuanian Minister of Health Aurelijus Veryga in his turn emphasized, that there is another precondition for the resumption of flights, according to which once a week flights will be considered only to those countries where the number of coronavirus infections per 100,000 inhabitants has not exceeded 25 in the last 14 days.
