On October 7, the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Latvia Tigran Mkrtchyan had a video meeting with Rihards Kols, the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Latvian Parliament and the members of the Committee.

During the meeting, Ambassador Mkrtchyan presented already two weeks stretching aggression against Artsakh carried out by the Azerbaijani armed forces with the support of Turkey, with the involvement of mercenary-terrorists from the Middle East and rocket attacks on civilians and civilian objects.

Ambassador Mkrtchyan noted that there is all the evidence on the unleashing of aggression by Azerbaijan, the resumption of hostilities, the use of prohibited weapons against the civilian population, particularly attacks with cluster bombs. Accordingly, the international community, in this case, the parliamentarians, should make more targeted statements, clearly pointing out the aggressor.

Touching upon Turkey's involvement in this conflict as a major security threat in the region, the Ambassador added that all partner and friendly countries of Armenia should call on Turkey to stop its dangerous intervention, which poses existential threats to the entire Armenian people.

Rihards Kols, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations, thanked Ambassador Mkrtchyan for presenting the point of view of the Armenian side, highlighting the importance of the regular nature of such contacts. He reaffirmed Latvia's official position on the settlement of the conflict: the conflict should be solved exclusively through negotiations on the basis of the principles of international law.
