21 September, 2019

On September 21, in St. Catherine church in Vilnius the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Lithuania together with the “Ugnele” Lithuanian Music School organized a concert of the “Little Singers of Armenia” choir dedicated to the 28th anniversary of Armenia's Independence was organized by

The event was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister of Lithuania Darius Skusevicius, high-level officials of the Lithuanian legislative and executive bodies and various state agencies, Ambassadors accredited in Vilnius, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of Lithuanian public and political life as well as members of the Armenian community.

Armenian Ambassador to Lithuania Tigran Mkrtchyan in his opening speech at the event noted that Independence movements in Armenia and Lithuania were in full mutual solidarity and support, thus it does not come as a surprise that Lithuania is the first state in the world to recognize Armenia’s Independence and establish diplomatic relations with our country.

Touching upon the current level of the relations between the two countries, Ambassador Mkrtchyan noted that the political dialogue is at a high level, and the visit of the Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan to Lithuania paid several days ago would give a new impetus to the multifaceted Armenia-Lithuania cooperation.

Introducing the cultural part of the event, Tigran Mkrtchyan noted that the "Little Singers of Armenia” choir was founded in 1992 by maestro Tigran Hekekyan immediately after the restoration of Independence of Armenia and over the past years it has become one of the biggest cultural brands of the Independent Armenia. The Ambassador added that it is symbolic that the Independence Day is celebrated with the participation of representatives of the Independence generations.

The concert was followed by a reception.
