Ambassador Mkrtchyan's visit to Visaginas and Alytus

On October 22, Armenian Ambassador to Lithuania Tigran Mkrtchyan visited Visaginas, where he met with Mayor Erlandas Galaguz.

Welcoming Ambassador Mkrtchyan, E. Galaguz presented the city's industrial opportunities and development prospects, expressing his readiness to cooperate with the Armenian communities.

Highlighting the development of decentralized cooperation between Armenia and Lithuania, Ambassador Mkrtchyan noted that the high level of existing political relations should be complemented by the establishment of close cooperation between the administrative territorial units of the two countries.

During the meeting, Mayor Galaguz highly appreciated the active and constructive involvement of the local Armenian community in the social and political life of the city. In the course of the meeting, the sides agreed to hold joint events in the near future.

On October 23, Ambassador Mkrtchyan visited Alytus, where he attended the premiere of Tennessee Williams’s play “A Streetcar Named Desire” directed by Suren Shahverdyan. Within the framework of the visit Ambassador Mkrtchyan also met with the Deputy Mayor of Alytus Jurgita Šukevičienė. The sides discussed possibilities of cooperation with the Armenian communities.
