Meeting of the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Lithuania with the Rector of Vilnius University

On July 10, Tigran Mkrtchyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Lithuania met with Prof. Rimvydas Petrauskas, Rector of Vilnius University.

Congratulating on being elected Rector of the VU, Ambassador Mkrtchyan wished Mr. Petrauskas fruitful activity and success.

Expressing gratitude for wishes and the visit, Rector Petrauskas expressed his readiness to deepen the cooperation with the Armenian Embassy to promote the implementation of new and joint initiatives.

During the meeting, Ambassador Mkrtchyan presented the main directions of the Armenian Embassy’s activity, the events implemented in the educational and cultural spheres, the current high level of the Armenian-Lithuanian relations, expressing the conviction that Vilnius University can contribute to deepening of the friendship between the two nations.

The parties also discussed the possibilities of finding ways of establishing an Armenian studies course at Vilnius University, agreeing to take concrete steps in this direction in the near future, to work on a joint action plan and mechanisms for its implementation.

At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Mkrtchyan donated some books on the history and culture of Armenia to the library of Vilnius University.
