Meeting of the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Latvia Tigran Mkrtchyan and Vice Speaker of the Latvian Saeima Inese Lībiņa-Egnere

On August 13, Tigran Mkrtchyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Latvia (residence in Vilnius), who is in Riga on a working visit, met with Inese Lībiņa-Egnere, Vice Speaker of the Latvian Saeima.

During the meeting, the sides discussed a wide range of issues related to the further development and expansion of the bilateral cooperation, in that context emphasizing the importance of making full use of the potential of the parliamentary platform. The sides reaffirmed mutual readiness to continue efforts aimed at maintaining the existing dynamics of dialogue at various levels.

The Armenian Ambassador and the Vice Speaker of the Latvian Parliament also touched upon pending issues of the regional agenda. Upon the request of the interlocutor, Ambassador Mkrtchyan presented the aggression carried out by the Azerbaijani armed forces along the Northeastern part of the Armenian state border since July 12, during which the civilian population and civilian infrastructure were also targeted.

Presenting the statement on the possibility of attacking the Metsamor nuclear power plant of Armenia by Azerbaijan, Ambassador Mkrtchyan described it as a direct manifestation of a threat of state and nuclear terrorism, which deserves the strictest assessment.

The Vice Speaker of the Latvian Parliament Inese Lībiņa-Egnere stressed the importance exclusively peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship.
