Reception in Riga Marking the 35th Anniversary of Armenia’s Independence

On September 24, a reception marking the 35th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia was held at Riga’s historic Small Guild Hall, organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Lithuania in cooperation with Mr. Mhitars Mhitarjans, Honorary Consul of Armenia in Latvia.

The event was opened with welcoming remarks by H.E. Ara Margarian, Ambassador of Armenia to Lithuania.

In his remarks, Ambassador Margarian reflected on Armenia’s 35-year journey as an independent state and highlighted the importance of the Crossroads of Peace (TRIPP) initiative in the context of peace and stability in the region.

He also highlighted the active development of Armenia–Latvia relations, including the high-level visits between the two countries this year, which gave new impetus to political dialogue and practical cooperation.

The important role of the Armenian community in Latvia as a bridge between the two peoples was also emphasized.

The reception brought together representatives of Latvia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Saeima, ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps, the Primate of the Armenian Diocese of the Baltic States, artists, intellectuals, and representatives of the Armenian community.

Guests enjoyed Armenian cuisine and wines, as well as Jermuk mineral water.
